Mount Siguniang tickets: Where to Book & Avoid Overpaying

I've lost count of how many times I've seen foreign tourists stuck at the entrance of Mount Siguniang, frantically waving their credit cards at a machine that doesn't accept them. Or worse, showing up on a holiday when tickets are sold out days in advance. Let me save you that headache.
Mount Siguniang tickets aren't hard to get — if you know where to look. And that's exactly what I'll show you.Siguniang Mountain ticket prices

Ticket Types & Prices

Mount Siguniang has four main scenic areas: Changping Valley, Shuangqiao Valley, Haizi Valley, and the Mountaineering Zone. Most day-trippers go to Shuangqiao (most developed) or Changping (trekking). Prices haven't changed since 2023, but always check on the official WeChat mini-program.

Area Adult Ticket (CNY) Student / Senior (60-69) Free Entry Shuttle Bus (CNY)
Shuangqiao Valley 150 75 (student) / 90 (senior) Over 70, children under 1.2m, disabled 70 (mandatory, efficient)
Changping Valley 70 35 (student) / 49 (senior) Same as above 20 (optional, short distance)
Haizi Valley 60 30 (student) / 36 (senior) Same as above None (walk or hire local jeep)
Pro tip: If you're planning to visit multiple valleys, get the combo ticket (220 RMB) – it covers Shuangqiao + Changping + Haizi within 3 days. You save about 60 RMB and won't have to queue again.

How to Book Mount Siguniang tickets (Step by Step)

Here's the part that frustrates most foreigners: the official booking is ONLY through a WeChat mini-program called "Mount Siguniang Scenic Area" (四姑娘山景区). No English interface, no international credit cards. You need WeChat Pay (or ask your hotel to pay for you in cash).

  1. Open WeChat → search for "四姑娘山景区" (or get the link from my pinned guide).
  2. Choose date and valley – slots open 7 days in advance. During October (golden week), they vanish within hours.
  3. Enter passport number (yes, they accept passports, but sometimes the system glitches. Bring your passport to the gate just in case).
  4. Pay – only WeChat Pay works. If you don't have it, ask your hostel to book via Trip.com (but they often add a 20% surcharge).book Siguniang tickets online
Heads-up: I once spent an hour at the ticket office because the mini-program rejected my passport number (it had a letter). The staff eventually let me buy on-site, but only after I showed a screenshot. To be safe, book on-site if your passport has non-numeric characters – arrive before 8 AM to avoid queues.

On-Site Ticket Counter – Backup Option

If online fails, the physical ticket office at the main entrance (Shuangqiao Valley) opens at 7:30 AM. They accept cash and Chinese bank cards (no foreign cards). The queue moves fast outside of Chinese holidays. Bring exact change to speed things up.Mount Siguniang entrance fee

Getting There: Transport & Insider Timing

Mount Siguniang is about 200 km from Chengdu, but the mountain roads make it a 4–5 hour drive. Most travelers take a bus from Chengdu's Chadianzi Bus Station (costs ~95 RMB, departs 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM). The bus drops you at Rilong Town, the gateway.

Best time to arrive: Between 1 PM and 3 PM. Why? Because most tour groups flood in at 10 AM. You'll hit a 40-minute queue at the shuttle stop if you come early. Plus, the afternoon light on the mountains is spectacular – I've taken my favorite shots around 4 PM.

What about driving yourself?

Rental cars are fine if you're used to winding mountain roads with no guardrails in some sections. There's a paid parking lot (20 RMB/day) at the scenic area entrance. But honestly, the bus is easier – you can nap while the driver handles the curves.Siguniang Mountain travel tips

Where to Stay Near Mount Siguniang

Most accommodation clusters in Rilong Town, a 5-minute drive from the ticket gate. Here are three I've used with different budgets:

Name Type Price/Night (CNY) Pros Cons
Nanyuan Mountain Inn Boutique guesthouse 300–500 English-speaking owner, great Tibetan food, free luggage storage No elevator (3 floors), Wi-Fi slow during peak hours
Siguniang Mountain Hostel Backpacker dorm 60–80 per bed Cheap, social common room, helps with trekking permits Thin walls, no heating in winter (but electric blankets)
Sheraton Rilong (local name, not actual Sheraton) Mid-range hotel 200–350 Good breakfast, hot showers, 24h front desk A bit old, some rooms smell musty

Personal favorite: Nanyuan. The owner once helped me rebook my Mount Siguniang tickets when the app crashed. He'll also give you a map with hidden viewpoints.Mount Siguniang guide

FAQ – Real Questions from Travelers

My flight arrives in Chengdu at 10 AM. Can I still visit Mount Siguniang that same day?
Technically yes, but I wouldn't. The last bus from Chengdu leaves at 8:30 AM. You'd have to hire a private car (600–800 RMB) and arrive after 3 PM – then you're rushed. Better spend the night in Chengdu, catch the early bus next morning, and enjoy a full afternoon at the park.
I'm on a vegetarian diet. Are there restaurants inside the scenic area?
Inside Shuangqiao Valley there are a few snack stalls selling noodles, boiled corn, and fried rice. Most are not vegetarian-friendly (they use lard). Bring your own energy bars. In Rilong Town, Yaks Kitchen has clear veggie labels on their menu (Google Maps rating 4.3).
Can I skip the shuttle bus inside Shuangqiao Valley and walk?
You can, but it's 35 km one way. Only recommended if you're an ultra-runner. Most visitors take the shuttle to the last stop (Yajinbar Village) and then hike back along the boardwalk – that's 2–3 hours of scenic walking downhill, which is my favorite way to beat the crowds.
What happens if it rains on the day I booked my Mount Siguniang tickets? Can I get a refund?
The official policy is no refunds once the ticket is used (or even if you don't show up). However, some flexible tickets on Trip.com allow cancellation up to 24 hours before. For WeChat bookings, there's a tiny "cancel" button before the day – it's in Chinese only. I've successfully refunded twice by asking my hotel to call the scenic area hotline (028-6762-0000). It helps if you're polite.
