Can't believe how green this city is! Splendid mountain parks right in the middle of a mega-city—hiked Wutong Mountain and the trail was well-maintained with stunning coastal views. Then cooled down at Dameisha Beach; the water was warm and clean. The public bike share system also made it super easy to explore the coastal paths. Everything felt safe, modern, and incredibly well-planned. Already planning my next trip back. 5 stars without hesitation!
Honestly a bit let down after hearing so many rave reviews. The sheer size of the city is overwhelming—spent almost an hour in traffic just to go 10 km. Went to a famous hot pot place in Luohu but the service was slow and the broth was bland. Also, the air quality made my eyes sting a little. Maybe I picked the wrong spots, but for a city this hyped, I expected more. A 3 from me—it's okay, but I'd pick other Chinese cities over this one.
Visited during the week, which was smart—OCT Loft was pleasantly uncrowded. Loved the mix of galleries, indie cafes, and vintage shops. Spent a full afternoon just wandering and taking photos. However, I found the newer parts of the city a bit too polished and generic, like a giant shopping mall. The old streets in Dapeng Fortress had much more character. A solid 4 out of 5 for me—great for a short stay but lacks some soul.
I came for the tech but stayed for the food! From the seafood markets in Shekou to the tiny noodle shops in Nanshan, every meal was a revelation. The oyster omelette at Dongmen was the best I've ever had—crispy on the outside, juicy inside. Only downside: some places don't speak much English, and you might need a translation app for the menus. Still, totally worth the effort. Highly recommended for adventurous eaters!
Absolutely blown away by the skyline here! The futuristic architecture in the CBD is mind-blowing—especially at night when everything lights up. Walked from Lianhua Mountain Park for a panoramic view and then hit up Coco Park for some amazing street food. The metro system is incredibly clean and efficient, which made getting around a breeze. If you're into modern urban vibes, Shenzhen is an absolute must-visit. Five stars all the way!
Shenzhen is an absolute gem for outdoor lovers! I spent two days exploring Wutong Mountain and the coastal boardwalk in Shenzhen Bay. The views are stunning, especially at sunset. The city has done a great job integrating green spaces with urban development. I also loved the street food scene in Huaqiangbei – shockingly good grilled squid. The only reason I'm not giving full marks is that some areas felt a bit too crowded and commercialized. Still, I'd highly recommend it for a dynamic travel experience.
