Mission Hills Haikou

Took a day trip here from Sanya and it was the highlight of my whole vacation! Even as a non-golfer, I loved the mini-golf area and the spa is out of this world. The staff went above and beyond – they even called ahead to reserve a table for us at the restaurant. Everything felt luxurious but not stuffy. If you're in Hainan, don't miss this place. Five stars without hesitation.

Played the Blackstone course and it was a solid round. Not quite as pristine as some of the other luxury resorts I've been to in Asia, but the uniqueness of playing on volcanic terrain makes up for it. Caddie was great – she read the greens like a book. I'd give it 4 stars because the rental clubs were a bit beat up and the locker room could use a refresh. Still, a memorable day on the links.

Came here just to walk around the resort grounds and it was gorgeous. The architecture blends so well with the tropical landscape, and the giant lava rock formations are just breathtaking. We had afternoon tea at the clubhouse and the service was impeccable. Definitely worth a visit even if you don't play golf – the scenery alone is worth the trip. Highly recommend!

The movie studio backlot (Feng Xiaogang Film Commune) was a highlight—such a cool step back into old Shanghai. We stayed at the hotel and the room was spacious with a great view. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the food court prices inside the park—$15 for a basic burger felt steep. Still, a fantastic trip overall!

Honestly, I was let down by the Movie Town (Fengxiaogang Film Commune). The sets are cool in photos but in person everything feels plastic and empty. Very few shops or activities, and it's a long walk in the sun with almost no shade. A ticket costs 168 RMB — way too much for what you get. Save your money for a real historical site in Hainan.
