Yubeng Village isn’t your typical ticketed attraction. There’s no grand gate, no turnstiles. Just a small booth at the end of a bumpy road where a local checks your QR code or cash. Yes, cash is accepted at the booth — but only Chinese RMB, and you won’t get change if you hand over a 100 yuan note for a 55 yuan ticket. Here’s the catch: Google Maps shows the ticket booth in the wrong place. It pins it near the village center, but the real booth is at the checkpoint about 8 km before the village, near the village of Xidang (西当). If you follow Google, you’ll end up hiking an extra 2 hours. Use Apple Maps or Amap (高德地图) instead — search for “雨崩景区售票处” or show this to your driver: 德钦县云岭乡雨崩村售票处.
How to Buy Yubeng Village Tickets
Three options. I’ll rank them from easiest to hardest for foreigners.
1. Book via Trip.com (Best for Alipay/WeChat users)
Trip.com is your safest bet. They accept international credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) and provide an English interface. Search “Yubeng Village ticket,” select your date, and pay. You’ll receive a QR code — show it at the booth. No passport needed for this online purchase (but bring it anyway for identity check at the checkpoint).
2. Buy at the booth (Cash or WeChat)
If you decide last minute, drive to the Xidang checkpoint. Cash works. But bring small bills (10, 20 yuan). The booth opens from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM in peak season (May–October). Off-season hours are shorter — around 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The ticket is valid for the entire duration of your stay in the village (usually 2–7 days).
3. WeChat Mini-Program (Chinese-only nightmare)
I don’t recommend this unless you read Chinese fluently. The mini-program “雨崩景区预约” requires registration with a Chinese ID number. Foreigners can’t complete the booking. I’ve seen many tourists stuck at the booth after failing. Stick to Trip.com or cash.

Getting to the Ticket Gate
You can’t drive all the way to the booth — you need to park at the Xidang parking lot or hire a local transfer. From Feilai Temple (飞来寺), it’s a 40-minute drive to Xidang. Expect to pay around 150–200 RMB for a private car (bargain hard). From Xidang, you can either hike 6–7 hours to Yubeng Village, or take a shared Jeep for 200 RMB per person. The Jeep is the real MVF (Most Valuable Friend) — it saves you 2,000 meters of altitude gain. Book it at the parking lot; no advance reservation needed.
Pro Tip: The Jeep queue can be 1–2 hours in July–August. If you’re fit, start hiking from Xidang by 9 AM to avoid the heat and dust. I always tell my clients: “The Jeep is for the views; the hike is for the bragging rights.”
Insider Tips to Save Time & Sanity
